Lactation Consultation Services
WHAT TO EXPECT
As a client of Juno, attention will be paid to your family’s health history and we will do a thorough assessment of your current situation. Options will be explored and a plan of care developed that is designed to achieve your goals. If you are not sure if Juno will be right for you, please feel welcome to call or email with any questions.
All visits include follow-up phone and email support as well as recommendations for additional resources if applicable.
Juno’s doors are open to all families. If you are a single parent, a same-sex couple, an adopting family, want support regarding physical abilities, a young mom, someone having a baby later in life or anyone with a concern regarding the feeding and nourishment of a newborn, please know you will be in a safe space.
TYPES OF CONTACT
Home Visits: If you have had a home birth or you find you want support after getting home from the hospital, a home visit might be the right choice for you. You may also prefer the comfort of your own home and other people around you.
Office Visits: Juno has a beautiful office located at a residence. It has a separate entrance and affords lots of privacy. The space is designed to be a sanctuary and a bit of an escape from the stresses and pressures that can surround us during our daily lives. You are welcome to bring partners or other individuals involved in your or your baby’s lives.
Prenatal Assessment or Planning: If you would like to explore your health history, previous breastfeeding experiences, address any concerns you have prior to your baby arriving, or do special planning, a prenatal assessment can go a long way toward streamlining subsequent support.
Hospital Visits: (Prenatal Assessment required) If you think you might want support during the first hours and/or days before you are discharged, you may want to request a hospital visit. Most hospitals provide Lactation Consultants to help you during your stay, but if you would like the consistent support of the same person before, during and after your hospital stay Juno will work within the hospital framework to meet your needs.
Education: Small group or one-on-one classes are available, including any partners, friends or other caregivers you would like to invite. Preferably groups of 10 or less, but larger groups can be arranged. Classes will be designed to meet your personal needs and can be held at the Juno office or location of your choice.
Video: Video appointments are an option for existing clients and can be arranged on a case-by-case basis. (for billing purposes, video appointments will be treated as an office visit)
